Abrasive Belt Wire Descaling Machine

The Abrasive Belt Wire Descaling Machine is designed to remove mill scale, rust, and surface oxidation from steel wire rods before cold drawing, forming, or other downstream processing. It uses abrasive belts and rotating grinding heads to mechanically clean the wire surface as the material passes through the machine.

Compared with chemical pickling, mechanical descaling does not require an acid pickling bath for the descaling operation. The machine can be installed as a standalone processing unit or integrated into a wire preparation line, depending on the production layout and feeding system.

It is suitable for wire and rod applications where surface condition, processing speed, abrasive consumption, and compatibility with downstream equipment are important selection factors. Mechanical Scale Removal
Abrasive belts act directly on the wire surface to remove oxide layers and loose surface deposits before subsequent processing. Belt grit and contact pressure should be selected according to the material and required surface condition.

Multi-Head Grinding Configuration
Multiple grinding heads can be arranged around the wire pass-line to process different sides of the material. The number and orientation of heads determine the effective circumferential coverage and should match the required descaling result.

Adjustable Belt Tension
A belt tensioning mechanism maintains the specified belt tension during operation. Where pneumatic tensioning is fitted, the required compressed-air supply must be available at the installation site.

Dust Collection Connection
The grinding enclosure can be connected to a suitable dust collection system to capture airborne particles generated during descaling. Collector capacity and filtration requirements should be selected according to the material, grinding conditions, and applicable workplace regulations.

Variable-Speed Control
Variable-frequency drive control can be used to adjust the feed or line speed when included in the machine configuration. The operating speed should be matched to wire diameter, scale thickness, abrasive condition, and the required surface result.

Cold Drawing Preparation
Removes surface scale from steel wire rod before drawing. The required surface condition should be agreed with the drawing process engineer and matched to the downstream lubricant and die system.

Fastener and Cold Heading Production
Prepares carbon steel and alloy steel wire used for bolts, screws, rivets, and other formed components. Material condition and surface requirements should be verified before selecting the grinding configuration.

Spring Steel Wire Processing
Provides mechanical surface cleaning before subsequent drawing or forming of spring wire. The process parameters must be selected according to the steel grade and required surface condition.

Welding Wire Production
Can be considered for upstream cleaning of suitable steel wire stock. Compatibility with later treatments, including copper coating or other surface finishing processes, should be confirmed for the specific production line.
